Airline Inventory Hosting System

VRS allows the inventory manager to allocate seat inventory to groups of users such as specified Tour Operators or Travel Agents where the airline has an obligation to guarantee a number of seats with single or multiple classes.

The inventory manager will set up a profile for a sales office and allocate a number of seats in classes agreed and only that sales office will receive availability for those seats. Other users can still book those classes providing that the allocation given to the private allocation is lower that that of the total seats in that class.

Inventory is distributed to interline partners using industry standard IATA protocols. SSM messages are sent to interline partners to keep them updated with your flight schedule, AVS messages are sent to update inventory levels within other systems. Real time interactive availability and sell can also be provided where your interline partners have the capability. Ticketing of sold seats are all handled using IATA Type A Edifact IET (Interline Etickets).

Free Sale Codeshare allows your authorized codeshare partners to act as a marketing carrier for your airline or a "selling agent". This allows them to seel your flights and seat inventory without any restrictions at mutually agreed fares. The other airlines system has a direct connection to VRS and provides a real time selling process to the other airline as if they were selling one of their own flights. Classes and Flight numbers are mapped between the 2 systems and both system retain a copy of the PNR (booking) to create a mirroring between the systems. 

Hard block seat allocations can be made in the system where there is no desire to provide real time access to the airlines inventory to a 3rd party such as another airline or tour operator. In this can a number of seats in varying classes can be blocked from availability for a given time range to stop and sales of those seats. 

The 3rd party such as an interline partner (but where there is no real time connection between airline systems) will make bookings on their own system and then send a list of passengers to the host airline. The list of passengers can be automatically imported into VRS to occupy the inventory that was allocated to them.

VRS can both send and receive AVS (Availability Status) messages to keep you and your distribution partners up to date with flights and inventory levels which are available. VRS sends AVS messages to all GDS systems that your connected to as well as your interline partners which allows their systems to know the inventory levels of your flights. For interline or codeshare partners that you sell flights for, VRS will receive AVS messages and store them in your flights database which in turn shows in your systems availability.

The system includes extensive revenue analysis tools for revenue managers to identify flights which need adjustments to inventory levels and optimize airline revenues. Commercial departments can group together flights based on route, season, demand and supply of inventory and adjust inventory levels accordingly.

VRS can also be integrated with any 3rd party Revenue Management system where required. Inventory levels are exported on a daily basis to the RM system which will analyse historical data and make predictions and adjustment recommendations which are then imported back into VRS.

Other controls exist within the system to protect revenue by removing unproductive bookings and releasing inventory such as variable ticket time limits, duplicate bookings alerts and thus reducing leakage and the gap between the reveune the airline expects to yield from each flight and that which it actually receives.

The inventory on a multi-leg flight within VRS can be controlled with variable limits between the different ciy pairs throughout the life of the flight. This provides the inventory manager the ability to Cap the inventory levels on specified sectors which might restrict the sales of longer itineraries - for example the middle sectors of a multi leg flight may have the highest demand but yield a much lower revenue than passengers travelling the full length of the flight. In this case the inventory manager will reduce the capacity of the middle sectors to ensure a predicted level is available for the complete flight.
